CBS's Mission Unstoppable Salutes National Space Day and Star Wars "May the 4th Be With You" Day

Fans Will Be Encouraged to Share Via #SPACE DAY


NEW YORK, NY, April 28, 2021 -- Mission Unstoppable, CBS’s award-winning series, will celebrate National Space Day (Friday, May 7) and Star Wars “May the 4th Be With You” Day (Tuesday, May 4) with a week-long, social media celebration of women in space-related STEM professions. For the entire first week of May, Mission Unstoppable’s popular TikTok, Instagram and Twitch platforms (#SpaceDay) will feature aerospace superstars such as commercial spaceflight industry professional Kellie Gerardi, aspiring astronaut Alyssa Carson, Los Alamos National Laboratory Space and Planetary Exploration Team lead Nina Lanza, astrophysicist Dr. Erin MacDonald and Industrial Light & Magic Stagecraft Technology experts Lacey Cates, Haili Wells and Kelly Fan. In addition, the platforms will feature special AR (augmented reality) filters, stories and games in honor of the stellar holidays celebrated by millions of Star Wars and space fans around the world.

Now in its second season, Mission Unstoppable spotlights diverse, female STEM professionals in an impactful, entertaining way in an effort to break long-held stereotypes and encourage adolescent girls to pursue STEM careers. The program, produced by Litton Entertainment and Lyda Hill’s Philanthropies IF/THEN Initiative, airs weekly on Saturday mornings as part of CBS’s Educational/Informational programming block.

Hosted by Miranda Cosgrove (iCarly, Despicable Me) and executive produced by Cosgrove and Academy-award winner Geena Davis, Mission Unstoppable introduces girls to aspirational women who have chosen and excelled in STEM; atypical role models who present them with new career options and new possibilities to explore.


Mission Unstoppable’s TikTok www.tiktok.com/@cbsunstoppable regular in-feed content will feature original videos from over 40 women, which will be posted throughout the week. Content will delve into space-themed subjects such as; How nuclear energy powers the Perseverance Rover, What it’s like flying on a Zero G flight, the evolution of spacesuit technology and the Stagecraft technology behind The Mandalorian. There will be a live stream on Tuesday, May 4 featuring NASA Datanaut and series correspondent Fig O’Reilly and aspiring astronaut Alyssa Carson, followed by a second live stream with Sarah Trop, Pipeline Director at Industrial Light & Magic.


Mission Unstoppable’s Instagram www.instagram.com/cbsunstoppable will feature interactive stories, quizzes and games. It will also offer AR filters with two options: “Go to Space!” and “What Planet Are You?” On Friday, May 7 at 9:30amPT/12:30pmET @cbsunstoppable will host an Instagram Live with mechanical engineer Kat Echazarreta and astrophysics student Jupiter Jones. Also on May 7, Fig O’Reilly will take over the page, explaining her role as a NASA Datanaut.
